Overview

We are looking for a qualified, hardworking and inspired fabricator to join Superfab full time. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Sanding, finishing, and assembling of CNC milled parts for both production jobs and custom one offs. This requires a high degree of skill, organization, and attention to detail. The nature of some of the production work is repetitive--you need to be able to maintain the highest standards of quality while always keeping an eye towards improving the efficiency of your station.

Another facet of the position is working alongside studio project engineers on full scale mockups to help project design professionals determine best materials, methods, and details for their projects. In addition, our scope of work sometimes includes installation of furniture, architectural installations, and other millwork. Occasional travel is involved - usually a few days at a time on job sites in California and Washington.

While we use a wide variety of materials on our projects, our in-house fabrication work most commonly involves furniture grade plywood and solid woods. Traditional woodworking skills are a must. We outsource our production scale finishing, but aptitude for small scale finishing is valuable as we do some specialty stains and finishing in-house.

You're expected to be smart, curious, a good communicator and personable, too. The desire and ability to consistently grow as a craftsperson is essential. Some heavy lifting, packing, and overtime may also be necessary. Other requirements are as follows:

Experience

Basic wood shop experience, knowledge of tools & techniques (3+ years, minimum)

Specific tools you MUST have experience with include: random orbital sander, pneumatic fasteners (brad and pin nailers), drill/drivers, chop saw, trim routers.

Other applicable tools include, but are not limited to: table saw, drill press, routers, jointer, planer, spray finishers, etc.

+ bonus for experience with designing/making things yourself

+ bonus for experience in construction

+ bonus for experience w/ digital fabrication tools (opportunity to learn to use CNC routers if not experienced)

+ bonus for experience w/ laying up multiple types of materials using vacuum bag setup

Compensation

Superfab works a 4 day work week (32 hours).  The hourly rate for this position reflects this work schedule.

$20-27.50/hour, depending on experience. Full-time (32 hrs/week) with potential for additional hours.  If hired as a regular employee, health and dental insurance, plus vacation time accrual start after 60 day probationary period. (Temporary hires are not eligible for benefits.)
